This remote part-time position offers up to 80 hours a month at $25 an hour. Join our team to publish great articles, take on special projects and write about Wyoming history.

Assistant Editor, WyoHistory.org

Job description:

The primary task of an assistant editor is help with all stages of publishing. This includes reading and editing articles, completing submission forms, photo searching, and caption writing. Assistant editors are expected to proofread our weekly email blasts and make corrections on the website.

Assistant editors also assist with general planning. This task includes attending weekly meetings, planning content, recruiting new authors to write for WyoHistory.org, and designing special projects for grant funding. Special projects can include, but are not limited to, oral histories, video editing, and creation of lesson plans.

You will occasionally be asked to write blog posts and articles, which are compensated at a different rate. We offer $25/hour for blog posts, up to a two-hour maximum per post. Blog posts generally run 300-600 words, and link to content already on the site as a way to drive readers to places they may not have been before. Articles are paid at piece-rate pay of $300-$500 for an article.

Hours: Up to 80 hours a month

Pay: $25 an hour for regular duties, $25-$50 for blog posts, $300-$500 for articles
