Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum

The Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum at 100 Fort St. in Buffalo, features exhibits on Johnson County and regional history and an excellent bookstore and gift shop. Longtime Buffalo pharmacist Jim Gatchell built an extensive collection of western lore and artifacts. After he died in 1954, his family donated the collection to the county. The museum is housed in Buffalo’s former Carnegie Library, on the corner where U.S. 16 heads west from Main Street toward the Bighorn Mountains.
