Names Hill

Names Hill is a soft sandstone cliff, near the Green River crossing of the Sublette Cutoff of the Oregon Trail, where many pioneers inscribed their names. It lies on the west side of U.S. 189 about six miles south of La Barge, Wyo. in the northeast corner of Lincoln County. The James Bridger signature—probably not genuine—is enclosed by chain-link fencing. A couple of historic markers identify the site and signature.
