Seminoe and Kortes Dams
Seminoe Dam is located on the North Platte River where it flows through the Seminoe Mountains. Kortes Dam is located on the North Platte River just downstream from Seminoe Dam. From Interstate 80, take Sinclair Exit 221 and follow Carbon County Road 351 along the west side of Seminoe Reservoir past the dams. From U.S. Highway 220 southwest from Casper, take Natrona County Road 407 south from Alcova along the east side of Alcova Reservoir and Carbon County Road 291, and follow signs to Miracle Mile and Kortes. That road crosses the river at Miracle Mile. For more information on the drive, visit the Bureau of Land Management’s Seminoe-Alcova Backcountry Byway site at http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/field_offices/Rawlins/rec/byway.html.
