South Pass City

South Pass City is located about 35 miles south of Lander, Wyo. From Lander, head south on U.S. Highway 287 for approximately 8 and one-half miles and continue on state Highway 28 for another 23 miles. Signs for South Pass City are easily visible on Highway 28. Turn left—east--onto Winter Road, which becomes Pickaxe Road, and continue for approximately about 2 miles.
