Wyoming State Museum
The Wyoming State Museum, at 2301 Central Ave. in Cheyenne, (307) 777-7022, is located in the Barrett Building, in the Capitol Complex in the center of the city, a cluster of buildings that include the Capitol Building, Wyoming Supreme Court and the Hathaway and Herschler state offices. Admission is free, but hours are seasonal; check the website linked above. Museum exhibits cover the geology, archaeology, cultural, wildlife and energy-related history of Wyoming. Several hands-on activities are available for young visitors.
