Fort Reno and Cantonment Reno

To visit the sites of Fort Reno and Cantonment Reno, take exit 254 off of Interstate 25 at Kaycee, Wyo.

Head east on Wyoming Highway 192 for 19 miles to the Sussex Road. Turn left—north—and follow the Sussex Road. The road will turn to dirt after a few miles. Follow the Sussex road 5.0 miles to the three historic-marker plaques, on the right side of the road, with more information about Cantonment Reno. From there, follow the road 4.0 more miles to a pullout on the left side of the road, with more plaques about Fort Reno.

Look for a stone monument about 150 yards to the east of the road, in the sagebrush. This marks the actual site of Fort Reno.
